One Sunday, the Baldwins (?) came home from church, and reported to Verlie that there was a very nice looking young man newly attending that day. The next Sunday, they reported the same thing. Verlie thought she should investigate this person, so she went to Calvary Lutheran the next Sunday, and sat where she had a good view of the young gentleman. She was impressed that he could sing every hymn that was sung that day. The hymnal used in that church was 'text, only', no printed music, but still he knew every song.The pastor saw Verlie at the church service, and invited her to a youth gathering that they were having at the church, that evening. He said he would even stop by and pick her up. She agreed to attend. Of course, Leonard was there. After the meeting, Verlie was waiting for the pastor to finish up with what he was doing, so he could take her back home. She noticed Leonard was also kind of 'hanging around', she assumed because he didn't have any thing else to do. The Pastor called to Leonard and said he was going to be awhile, so why wouldn't Leonard take Verlie home for him. Well, one thing led to another, and the rest is history.
