Negaunee - Thomas H. Oates, 60, 311 Bluff Street, Negaunee, died Saturday afternoon in Bell Memorial Hospital, Ishpeming, where he had been a patient 5days. Born October 28, 1914 in Cornwall, England, Oates came to Negaunee in 1919 and resided there since. He was a member of Mitchell Methodist Church, the Negaunee Masonic Lodge, and the Negaunee Eagles. Oates retired from the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company in January, 1973, after 30 years of employment. Survivors are the widow, Merrill; two sons, Thomas C. Oates of Ishpeming; three daughters, 12 grandchildren; one brother, Richard Oates of Marquette; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Russo of Ishpeming, and Mrs. Donald (Beatrice) Larson of Negaunee; two step-sons, four step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1:30 tomorrow at Mitchell with Reverend William Schoonover officiating. Burial will be in Negaunee Cemetery. Friends may call at Koskey Funeral Home from 4 to 9P.M. today.
