Charles, at 9 years of age, was bound to James Griffin for an eight yearapprenticeship at the shoemakers trade. On removal to CT, he settled inthe Cove, at Stamford and entered the employ of Stamford Manuf. Co. wherehe remained 17 yrs.
In 1845 took up residence on the Dann Homestead in No. Stamford where hecarried on farming and commenced maufacturing of barrels. Employed 20men. In 1861 he engaged in the Mercantile business which he conducteduntil 1872.
